Seemandhra MP Forum Convenor Kavuri Sambasiva Rao on Wednesday stated that Seemandhra Congress leaders are not ready to accept the proposal of Hyderabad as a common capital as propounded by some Telangana leaders.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Kavuri said Seemandhra leaders would never accept the
proposal made by Rajya Sabha Member V Hanumantha Rao for making Hyderabad a common capital for 10 years in the event of a division of the state.
Reiterating that Seemandhra leaders are opposed to a division of the state, the MP said the delegation of leaders from Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema would list out to the Centre the various development activities which took place in the state so far.
He said the leaders would press for the implementing the 6th option recommended in the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee Report, which clearly opposed carving out a separate state from Andhra Pradesh.
Responding to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram seeking a unanimous opinion among parties for taking a decision on the issue, Kavuri said a consensus on the issue can be reached only through dialogue.
Responding to the issue of resignations of Telangana leaders, the MP found no fault in their decisions, and stated the representatives had resigned in order to fulfil the aspirations of the people of their constituencies.
He added that leaders from the Krishna district are also ready to submit their resignations in the event that the Centre signals that it is ready to announce a separate Telangana state.
Kavuri, however, wanted to know whether the Centre would announce separate states wherever elected representatives submit their resignations. (INN)
