Sankranthi celebrations have begun in the two Telugu-speaking States, and ministers and other public representatives are being prominent revellers.
Telangana minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao took part in Bhogi celebrations at his native place in Parvathagiri of Warangal district. He not only lit Bhogi bonfires, but also danced around them along with his family members and the villagers, to the tunes of local folk songs.
Speaking on the occasion, he conveyed his Bhogi and Sankranthi greetings to the people of the Sate and conveyed good wishes for all of them.
The BRS MLC K Kavitha-led Bharat Jagruti also held Bhogi celebrations, at KBR Park in the city. Kavitha too took part in the celebrations, and lit a bonfire along with other participants. The performance of Basavanna attracted the attention of all present at the venue.
Former AP chief minister and TDP national president Chandrababu Naidu took part in Bhogi celebrations at his native village Naravaripalle. Telugu film actor and MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna too took part in celebrations along with his family members and the family members of Naidu, his brother-in-law.
Veteran actor Mohan Babu held Bhogi celebrations in his native village Rangampeta of Tirupati district. Speaking on the occasion, he said that he would hold Sankranthi celebrations at the village every year.
Vijayawada too saw plenty of Bhogi celebrations. The celebrations held at the residence of former minister Vellampalli Srinivas attracted quite some attention. Various parts of Konaseema including Ravulapalem, Kothapeta, Rajole, Amalapuram, Gannavaram and Allavaram too saw vivacious celebrations, with people lighting bonfires and singing songs.
