Sania Mirza Receives Khel Ratna From President

Tennis ace and Telangana brand ambassador Sania Mirza received the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award from President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday.

Tennis ace and Telangana brand ambassador Sania Mirza received the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award from President Pranab Mukherjee in Delhi on Saturday.

The President gave her the prestigious award on the occasion of National Sports Day.

Mirza is the second tennis player in the country to receive the exalted honour after Leander Paes.

The coaches who received the Dronacharya Award were Harbhan Singh (Athletics), Nihar Singh (Swimming) and Anup Singh (Wrestling).

The Arjuna awardees were Kidamba Srikanth (Badminton) and Sandeep Kumar (Archery).

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao congratulated Mirza for the award.

In a press release he exuded confidence that Mirza would win many more awards at the national and international levels.
