CM Announces Rs 25 Lakh Each To Two Chess Players
The Telangana CM announced 25 lakh each for Arjun (world no 3) and Harika (world no 11) for their performances at the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad held in Hungary.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today announced cash rewards of Rs 25 lakh each for two chess players - Arjun (world rank 3) and Harika (world rank 11) - in recognition of their outstanding performances at the recently concluded 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad held in Budapest, Hungary.
Both the Indian men's and women's teams made history by winning team gold medals, with Arjun also securing an additional individual gold medal for India, further elevating the nation's stature on the global chess stage.
The Chief Minister felicitated both players at his residence and appreciated their performances in the olympiad.
The felicitation ceremony also had minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao, MLA Nayini Rajendher Reddy, Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Sports Chairman Shiva Sena Reddy and Sports MD Soni Bala Devi, along with other dignitaries, in attendance.
The government has in the past too honoured high-performing sportspersons, though this appears to be the lowest reward for achievements in this league.
