YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy began his indefinite fast in Chanchalguda Jail on Sunday morning.
Jagan went on a hunger strike demanding that the Centre maintain status quo on Andhra Pradesh (that is, keep it united). "The Centre should maintain status quo if it cannot do justice to all regions while dividing the state," is his demand.
According to sources, Jagan refused tea and breakfast on Sunday morning, as he began his fast.
It may be mentioned that Jagan had decided to undertake an indefinite fast after the police arrested YSRCP honorary president Vijayamma, 5 days after she started fast, demanding that Andhra Pradesh not be bifurcated to create a separate Telangana. She called off her fact on doctors' advice.
Meanwhile, security has been intensified around Chanchalguda Jail to prevent YSRCP activists from assembling near the jail premises. (INN)
