Y S Vijayamma Seeks A Decisive Mandate

Hyderabad | 14th April 2014
YSR Congress Honorary President Y S Vijayamma has appealed to the voters to give a decisive mandate to the party to enable it to have a say in the Centre and get grants for developing the state, and continue the welfare schemes along with development works.

Addressing a road show here on Monday, she said: "Jagan has made it clear in the manifesto, the welfare schemes and the development activities that his government will take up. I appeal to all of you to vote for the YSRCP's fan symbol and place the reins of the state in the hands of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy who will deliver the goods.

"You have to elect a good leader who is committed and translates his promises into deeds and ushers in YSR's golden era all over again. Jagan will continue all of YSR's welfare schemes and improvise upon them. He has promised to launch Amma Vadi which will take care of the education of 2 children per family by directly depositing Rs. 1,000 per month. The amount would be increased to Rs. 700 per child when the child reaches an undergraduate course, and will be hiked to Rs. 1,000 per child upon the child reaching graduation.

"Increasing the old age pension to Rs. 700, setting up of a Market Stabilisation Fund to insulate farmers from market fluctuations, waiver of DWACRA loans, taking governance to the doorsteps of villagers, providing quality power for 7 hours in the day time and building 50 lakh houses for the poor in 5 years are some of the welfare measures Jagan's government will take up," she said.

The YSR Congress, if voted to power, would build a super-specialty hospital in every district and provide 150 units of power for Rs. 100. There would be no power cuts by 2019. In the meantime, infrastructure would also be developed in the form of ports, airports and rail-road linkages to other cities, she added.

To have good bargaining clout, we need to have the numbers and win 30 MP seats to mount pressure on the Centre, she said, asking the cadre to bury their differences and work as one unit.

She also listed out the welfare schemes YSR had implemented which would be continued and improvised upon.

Warning that Chandrababu Naidu, Kiran Kumar Reddy and Chiranjeevi would also come seeking votes, she asked the people to be judicious and compare the YSR term with his preceding and succeeding governments.

Earlier, she paid rich tributes to B R Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. (INN)
