Over 12,000 RTC buses were back on the roads in the Seemandhra region on Saturday after the employees called off their 2-month long strike.
RTC employees reported to duty on Saturday morning in all the depots of the 13 districts of Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra.
The restoration of the RTC services provided much-needed relief to the people in view of the Dassera festival and the bad weather conditions spawned by the Phailin cyclone which is set to hit the eastern coast of AP on Saturday evening.
It may be mentioned that the Seemandhra RTC Employees JAC agreed to call off the strike after having successful talks with Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana and APSRTC Managing Director A K Khan in Hyderabad on Friday night.
The employees were on strike since August 12 demanding that the Centre withdraw its decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana. (INN)
