Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said that the state government would be conducting Sadar Utsav, a buffalo carnival celebrated annually by the Yadava community of Hyderabad as a part of Deepavali, as a state festival on October 21.
After a review meeting followed by an inspection of the venue at the Narayanaguda cross roads with officials, Yadav said that arrangements were being made for conducting Sadar as a state program as per the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, and that all political leaders should cooperate for its success.
Yadav appealed to the Yadavas from the districts to arrive in processions by 6:30 pm and make the event a great success. The event would be followed by cultural programs, he said. The facilities to be in place include a mobile health camp, mobile toilets, power supply, drinking water, a sound system, ambulance services and police security.
The Sadar festival, being held for 75 years now on the second day after Deepavali, displays buffaloes decorated with flowers, and with their horns painted, paraded through the streets with accompanying music and dancing crowds. Many Gollas and Kurumas of the Yadava community join the festivities.
