Ruckus In AP Assembly Over Capital Lands
The session witnessed chaos and pandemonium today as the ruling and Opposition parties traded charges of irregularities with regard to capital city lands.
The Budget Session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday witnessed chaos and pandemonium as the ruling and Opposition parties traded charges of irregularities with regard to capital city lands.
Leader of the Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and Leader of the House and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu were seen targeting each other, a sequence that almost marred the proceedings of the House.
During the debate on the capital city construction, the Leader of the House lost his cool and rejected Jagan's demand for a CBI inquiry into the irregularities in the acquisition of lands for the capital city.
"The government will take action against the ministers if the Leader of the Opposition proves any irregularities - else, he should tender an apology to the House," Naidu said.
Jagan alleged that land irregularities had taken place at the behest of Chandrababu Naidu. He also accused the CM of amassing wealth of about Rs two lakh crores by illegal means, and sought a CBI inquiry.
"Chandrababu ias spending several crores to engineer defections, and has failed to keep his promise of constructing a capital city in two years. He has also failed to get Special Status and a special package from the Centre, and hasn't taken any steps for the Polavaram first phase works, either," Jagan said.
Jagan also said that the TDP was not bold enough to withdraw its support to the NDA government at the Centre for not extending support for the State's development.
Taking serious exception to Jagan's comments, Naidu expressed anguish, and unequivocally warned him of serious action.
"The Opposition party cannot resort to mud-slinging against the people and farmers who trusted our government and gave their lands voluntarily for the capital city construction," an irate Naidu declared.
