A day after the tragic bus fire mishap claiming 45 lives, the Road Transport Authority has launched a major crackdown against private bus operators across the state.
The RTA authorities have conducted surprise checks on Mumbai-Hyderabad and Hyderabad-Bangalore National Highways, and on other major check-posts across the state, to check for any violation of rules by private bus operators.
While 3 buses were seized on NH-9, 9 buses were seized at Shahpur check-post near Shamshabad.
2 buses were also seized near Kotipalli of the East Godavari district. As many as 8 in Vijayawada, 6 in Ranga Reddy district and 1 in Nellore have also been seized by the authorities for violation of rules.
5 cases have been registered against the private operators in Anantapur district, for not maintaining proper records.
The authorities say that the checks would continue until all private operators follow rules. (INN)
