In a significant development, the Telangana government today released Rs 250 crore for implementing the flagship Dalit Bandhu scheme in the four selected mandals outside of Huzurabad.
The four mandals to get these funds are Chinthakani, Tirumalagiri, Charagonda and Nizamsagar.
The government plans to give funds to 100 families in each of the selected mandals on a pilot basis, and extend things in a phased manner.
Rs 100 crore will go to Chintakani, and Rs 50 crore each will go to the three other mandals.
The Collectors held awareness camps on the scheme to the Dalit families in the mandals.
The SC Corporation also asked the Collectors to conduct Dalit family censuses in the districts.
Under Dalit Bandhu, each eligible SC family will get Rs 10 lakh to do any business either individually or as part of a group. The government is planning to spend a staggering Rs 1.70 lakh crore for implementing the scheme.
