The Congress High Command on Wednesday denied reports that appeared on an online news website that it was considering releasing Chief Minister K Rosaiah from his post.
Condemning the report which first appeared on a website, and was subsequently picked up by various television news channels with their own versions, the AICC spokesman Janardhan Dwivedi said that he had no official information on the change of guard in the state.
According to sources, the report says that Rosaiah has expressed his wish to resign from the post before his party chief Sonia Gandhi, and high command has decided to send him as Governor of either Karnataka or Madhya Pradesh.
The names that were thrown around as Rosaiah's replacement included Union Minister For Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy, Panchayati Raj Minister Botsa Satyanarayana, Information And Public Relations Minister J Geetha Reddy and Assembly Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Another channel even stated that any name suggested by Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy will be considered by the High Command.
The website also claimed that Rosaiah had been alerted on Wednesday morning about a possible shift to Raj Bhavan over phone.
Dwivedi said the party will concentrate on Andhra Pradesh state affairs once Maharashtra issue was over.
The party High Command is now preoccupied with Commonwealth Games scam, and even the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is not in the country now.
