Revanth Reddy To Join Congress In Delhi On Tuesday

Kodangal MLA Revanth Reddy, who resigned from the TDP as well as from the Kodangal Assembly seat last week, is set to formally join the Congress tomorrow at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi, along with his supporters, in the presence of Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.

The muhurtam for joining the Congress has been fixed at 12:30 pm.

Reddy met his followers and supporters at his residence in Hyderabad today after performing special prayers at the Jubilee Hills Peddamma temple at 10 am, in what he called an Athmeeya Sabha. The leader's followers, fans and anti-TRS leaders from across the state reached his residence in a big way.

Besides several TDP district presidents and senior leaders, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and TRS leader from Warangal Dommati Sambaiah also attended Reddy's meeting. Revanth Reddy welcomed Uttam Kumar Reddy with warm greetings, calling the latter "Anna".

While addressing the meeting, Reddy said that he had given his resignation letter to Chandrababu Naidu himself. On his resignation to the TDP primary membership, Reddy said that it was not a casual political defection. He said that he had joined the TDP though he had good relations with former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, former union minister S Jaipal Reddy, CLP leader K Jana Reddy and former home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, because he thought that he could do something for the people if he stayed in the opposition party.

Addressing the gathering later, Uttam Kumar Reddy extended warm wishes to all the leaders contemplating joining the Congress to dethrone the TRS government. He said that he was attending the meeting on behalf of the party high command.

Sources said that AP intelligence officers in mufti were moving near the residence of Reddy for gathering information about the movement of other leaders who are participating in the meeting.
