Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president A Revanth Reddy today approached the Hyderabad High Court pleading it to direct Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy to provide the details of the cases filed against him (Revanth Reddy).
In his petition, Reddy alleged that the DGP was not giving the details of the cases filed against him, and sought the intervention of the High Court.
He impleaded the Principal Secretary (Home), the DGP and the State Election Commission as respondents.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Reddy said that several cases across the state had been filed against him for raising his voice against the state government. The police however weren't sending any notices to him about such cases. The Assembly elections would be held very soon, and it was a pre-requisite for the candidate to mention the details of the cases during filing the nominations, and without knowledge of the cases against him, he would risk disqualification eventually, Reddy said.
Reddy said that he had first sought information on March 14 through the RTI from the DGP as several cases had been filed against him without his knowledge. But the DGP hadn't furnished the information yet, despite him (Revanth Reddy) submitting 12 memoranda on the issue since then.
"I have no alternative except to approach the High Court as the DGP isn't giving the information. I request the Court to direct the DGP to provide the details of the cases against me in various police stations across the state," Reddy said.
