Senior Congress leader and former minister Damodar Reddy on Wednesday strongly criticized member-secretary of the Srikrishna Commission Vinod K Duggal for attending a dinner hosted by Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra leaders.
The former minister said that being a member of Justice Sri Krishna Committee, which is about to submit its report on the controversial issue of future of the state, Duggal should have desisted from cosying up to the interested parties in the state.
Briefing media persons at the CLP, Damodar demanded that Duggal resign from the membership of the committee to clear doubts that have crept up in the minds of the people from Telangana. He added that if Duggal does not do so, the people of Telangana will lose faith in the committee itself.
The former minister added that if Duggal does not resign on his own accord, Justice B N Srikrishna should himself remove him from the post.
He added that if Justice Srikrishna or Central Government fails to remove Duggal from the panel, this would start to send wrong signals to the people of Telangana, that the much-awaited report will be in favour of an integrated Andhra Pradesh.
The former minister stated that Congress MPs from the Telangana region are contemplating to submit a memorandum in this regard to Justice B N Srikrishna.
