Raja Singh Demands SC, ST Act Case Against Ram Gopal Varma

The BJP MLA took serious exception to the comments of the popular film director against the BJP's Presidential nominee Draupadi Murmu.
Hyderabad | 24th June 2022
BJP MLA from Goshamahal Raja Singh on Friday took serious exception to the "atrocious" comments of popular film director Ram Gopal Varma against the BJP's Presidential nominee Draupadi Murmu, an Adivasi woman leader, and demanded that the police register a criminal case against the director under the SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act.

Referring to the tweet by Varma "If draupadi is the President who are the Pandavas? And more importantly, who are the Kauravas?", Singh described Varma as a "waste fellow".

He called Varma's comments against an Adivasi woman leader atrocious and mischievous, and accused the director of trying to stay alive in news reports by making controversial comments.

Another BJP leader, Gudur Narayana Reddy, called the comments against the putative woman President obscene, and said that Varma had become mentally deranged. Reddy and former MLA Nandeeshwar Goud lodged a complaint with the Abids police against Varma.
