AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi began his 15-kilometre long Kisan Sandesh Yatra in Koritkal of the Adilabad district on Friday.

Accompanied by senior TPCC leaders and hundreds of Congress workers, Gandhi began his padayatra by visiting the family of Velma Rajeshwar, a farmer who allegedly committed suicide.

He handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Rajeshwar's family members.

Later, he visited Laxmanchanda where he met the families of two farmers who had committed suicides due to the agricultural crisis.

The Congress Vice-President will also visit the Pottupally, Rachapur and Wadial villages. He will address a meeting at Wadial at about 4 pm today.

Gandhi had reached Nirmal via Nanded in Maharashtra on Thursday night and had made a night halt at Hotel Mayura Inn at Nirmal. (INN)
