The padayatra is meant to celebrate the inauguration of an irrigation project that will divert the waters of the Krishna river to the Rayalaseema region.
Revenue Minister Raghuveera Reddy is currently on a padayatra in the Rayalaseema region. His padayatra, one of the many being undertaken by AP's top politicians currently, is called "Bhagiratha Vijaya Yatra".
Reddy started the Bhagiratha Vijaya Yatra on Nov 18, in Malyala in Kurnool district. He has covered 150 km so far. The padayatra is meant to celebrate the inauguration of an irrigation project that will divert the waters of the Krishna river to the perennially dry Rayalaseema region. The project is called Anantha Venkata Reddy Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi.
Raghuveera Reddy entered Anantapur today, and was accompanied by T G Venkatesh and Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy, among other Congress leaders.
The padayatra is set to terminate in Jeedipalli in Anantapur on Nov 29.
