TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu extended support to B V Raghavulu and accused the Congress of being apathetic to the issues faced by people in the state.
Extending solidarity to Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Secretary B V Raghavulu, whose indefinite hunger strike entered the second day on Friday, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu stated that the people of Andhra Pradesh will give a fitting lesson to the indifferent government in the next elections.
Talking to mediapersons after visiting Indira Park to express solidarity with Raghavulu, who has taken to an indefinite fast to press the government to act upon and solve the people's problems, Naidu lashed out that the state government has been ignoring important issues.
"The government is unconcerned about the people, and is focused only on solving the internal squabbles in the ruling party and protecting the Chief Minister's chair," the TDP chief stated. The people of Andhra Pradesh are eagerly waiting for the government to address their problems, he added.
He rued that the attempts made by his party to highlight people's issues in Assembly were met with failure since the members chose to boycott the sessions.
Earlier, a team of doctors sent by the government visited Indira Park to check on the fasting Left leader and his supporters. However, the leaders refused to undergo the medical check-up.
The CPM leader is fasting to pressurize the government to appoint chairpersons and members to the SC/ST and Women's Commissions, issue identity cards to tenant farmers, enhance the wages of over 5 lakh workers employed on contract/contingency basis, and review the land allotments to multinational companies.
