» "Take Back Telangana Remarks": Telangana Lawyers Protest At Kavuri's Residence
T Lawyers Protest At Kavuri's Residence
Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, in a TV interview, had stated that the Centre would not take a favourable decision over Telangana under the present circumstances.
Protesting against Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao's remarks on a separate Telangana, the Telangana Lawyers Joint Action Committee, on Thursday, tried to lay siege to his residence at Jubilee Hills.
Raising slogans against the MP, the members of the Lawyers' JAC demanded that Kavuri Sambasiva Rao immediately withdraw his remarks against Telangana.\
It may be recalled that the MP had, in an interview to a private TV channel, stated that the Centre would not take a favourable decision over the formation of a separate Telangana state under the present circumstances.
The JAC members described those comments as "unfortunate" and "untimely" as "the Centre was making concrete efforts to resolve the issue by September this year".
They alleged that Seemandhra leaders have launched a malicious campaign on TV channels to scuttle the chances of a bifurcation of the state, in order to protect their own selfish interests.
The protesting lawyers alleged that certain Seemandhra "capitalists" were responsible for the looting of wealth and the encroachment of lands in the Telangana region. The lawyers threatened to intensify their agitation if the MP does not withdraw his comments.
Later, the city police arrested the JAC members, and shifted them to the Jubilee Hills police station. (INN)
