Turning up the heat in the fight for the Pulivendula assembly seat, followers of YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy attacked TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu's campaign today.
The followers of Jagan hurled stones at the TDP President, and attacked Naidu and those gathered around him with knives and sickles.
The members of the TDP and Jagan's supporters soon got into a heated argument, and the police had to resort to a lathi charge to stop the fight.
The members of the TDP expressed concern over the event, and asked how the polling could be expected to take place fairly on May 8th if such was the condition of those campaigning.
Its polling agents had already
backed out, and in the face of the present sequence of events, no member of the party could be expected to volunteer to serve as the polling agent for the party, the TDP members complained.
