Chiru To Justify PRP-Congress Merger
Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) leader Chiranjeevi will explain the reasons for the PRP-Congress merger at a massive public meeting in Tirupati, and formalize it, soon.
Senior Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) leader C Ramachandraiah on Monday stated that the party would conduct a politburo and party legislative committee meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Talking to media persons, he said that party president K Chiranjeevi will brief the party leaders on the outcome of his deliberations with Congress President Sonia Gandhi at the meetings.
Ramachandraiah further said that the modalities and legal aspects of the merger of the Congress and the PRP would be discussed during the meetings.
After the meetings, the PRP would organize a massive public meeting in Tirupati where the merger would be formalized, the PRP leader stated.
Ramachandraiah stated that Chiranjeevi would explain to the people of the state, the reasons behind the decision to merge the party with the Congress, at the Tirupati meeting.
Reacting to questions that some sections of the party were opposed to the merger, the senior leader said that the members of the party had unanimously authorized their chief to take a decision on the issue.
"Barring 2 MLAs, the decision taken by Chiranjeevi was hailed by all the party leaders," Ramachandraiah stated.
Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi has been convening meetings with senior Congress leaders including Union Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Union Minister For Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy to discuss the merger formalities.
