Probe Sharmila's Assets: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday demanded that the state government order a probe into the assets of YSR Congress party leader Sharmila and her husband Anil Kumar.

Addressing a press conference at the State BJP office, party spokesperson M V V S Prabhakar alleged that Anil Kumar has invested several crores of rupees in a television channel through a benami of Bernhard. He said that the channel was being used to propagate Christianity. He demanded that the government order a probe into the sources of the funding of the television channel.

Prabhakar also alleged that Sharmila and Anil Kumar own several properties worth hundreds of crores in Manikonda and other areas. He demanded that the government order a detailed probe into their assets on the lines of the investigation being done on the allegedly illegal assets of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Referring to Sharmila's padayatra in the flouride affected areas of Nalgonda, the BJP leader said that she had no moral right to speak about the affected people, as her father, the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, did nothing for them while he was the Chief Minister for almost six years. He said that Sharmila has been expressing sympathy with the affected people with an eye on their votes. (INN)
