The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telangana Telugu Desam Party Forum demanded that the state government postpone the intermediate public examination in view of the
"March of Millions" or the "Millennium March", as they chose to call it, scheduled to be staged in Hyderabad on March 10th.
Speaking to media persons at the Assembly Media Point, TRS Floor Leader Etala Rajender on Thursday demanded that the state government reschedule the intermediate examination timetable so that there is no examination on March 10th, the day when the Millennium March would be staged.
BJP state unit president G Kishen Reddy, too, demanded that the examination on March 10th be postponed to a later date on account of the Millennium March.
As if following their lead, TTDPF Convenor Nagam Janardhan Reddy made the same demand, and went a step further by meeting Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and submitting a memorandum to that affect.
Earlier, Rajender said that it was up to the government to conduct the examination in a congenial atmosphere, and it was duty-bound to make efforts in this direction.
Reacting to the words of Congress MP from Eluru Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao that pro-Telangana agitators should storm the residences of elected representatives from Telangana to press for their resignations in support of a separate state formation, the TRS leader said that the Telangana Congress MPs and MLAs have to take a decision and react suitably to the comments.
"We will wait and watch how Congress-elected representatives will react to Sambhasiva Rao's comments," he stated.
A little later, BJP leader Kishen Reddy alleged that the state government was not taking any initiative to address the Telangana problem despite Telangana employees and activists observing non-cooperation agitation and stalling administration.
Kishen Reddy also chose to try and corner the TDP by alleging that the party has hatched a conspiracy regarding the Telangana statehood demand. He said that this was proved by TDP Seemandhra leaders' demand for a an integrated Andhra Pradesh.
"At least now, the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu should make his stand clear on Telangana instead of indulging in double standards," Kishen Reddy demanded.
He said the TDP has no moral right to target BJP leader Advani as he made his stand clear on Telangana in the Parliament.
