The dubious methods being employed by certain private engineering colleges to exploit the fee reimbursement scheme intended for students for their own survival was narrated by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the State Assembly on Thursday.
While replying to the clarifications sought by the Opposition members on the issue of fee reimbursement dues, the Chief Minister revealed how certain institutions were trying to misuse the welfare scheme intended for students. He said that during surprise visits, some private institutions had only one lecturer on the rolls of 11 institutions in different places from Hyderabad to Adilabad.
Investigations revealed that some college managements lured lecturers to be present at the time of inspections by offering them Rs. 1 lakh and tried to show that they had the required number of teaching faculty, the CM explained.
KCR reiterated that the fee reimbursement scheme was intended for the students, but unfortunately some institutions without required teaching staff and infrastructure were trying to exploit the scheme for their own survival. The government would not tolerate this and would shut them down, he declared.
