Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today reiterated his government's stance of sealing all private engineering or other professional colleges that tried to exploit the fee reimbursement scheme meant for students.
The Chief Minister said, while replying to clarifications sought by the Opposition members on the scheme in the Telangana Assembly on Thursday, that he would shut down all institutions that took advantage of the scheme or minted money from it. Referring to the comments of MIM floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi - who interpreted the CM as saying "all private institutions" - KCR clarified that he would only order closing down institutions that tried to exploit the scheme, and not all private colleges.
KCR said that it was the responsibility of the State government to protect the interests of Telangana students, and that the fee reimbursement scheme and scholarships were initiated to benefit students and not institutions.
If the private institutions tried to exploit the initiative for personal gains, the government would unrelentingly shut them down, he declared.
