Prince Mukarram Jah's Body To Be Buried In Old City
The mortal remains of the prince will be brought to Hyderabad on January 17, and will be kept at the Chowmahalla Palace to allow people to pay their last respects.
Prince Mukarram Jah (Nawab Mir Barket Ali Khan Walashan Mukarram Jah Bahadur), the titular eighth Nizam of Hyderabad, who died in Turkey capital Istanbul on Saturday night at 90, will be buried in Hyderabad by his family members as per his last wish.
The mortal remains of the prince will be brought to the city on January 17, and will be kept at the Chowmahalla Palace to allow people to pay their last respects to him.
He will be buried at the Asaf Jahi family tombs in the city.
Mukarram Jah was the grandson of the last and Seventh Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Osman Ali Khan. He was born to Mir Himayat Ali Khan and princess Duru Shevar on October 6, 1933. Shevar was the daughter of the last Sultan the of Ottoman empire of Turkey.
Osman Ali Khan had anointed Mukarram Jah as the Nizam of Hyderabad upon his death (the former passed away in 1967). Mukarram Jah was thus renown as the eighth Nizam of Hyderabad since 1967 since his ceremonial coronation in Chowmahalla Palace.
Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali expressed grief over the demise of Mukarram Jah.
