President Ram Nath Kovind today dedicated to the world the golden statue of "Samatha Murthy" Ramanujacharya at Sriramnagar near Shamshabad.
The statue was built by the Chinna Jeeyar Swamy Trust.
The President and his wife visited the Samatha Murthy Centre, where the 216-feet high panchaloha statue of Ramanujacharya was unveiled recently, as part of the "Samatha Murthy Sahasrabdi" celebrations.
Upon arrival at the centre, the President was received by Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, who narrated the various aspects of the statue and the centre to the President.
The President then unveiled the plaque and dedicated the statue to the world.
Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, minister T Srinivas Yadav and others were present on the occasion.
Earlier, President Kovind reached the city in the afternoon by a special aircraft.
Governor Soundararajan and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao received the President at the Begumpet airport.
The President and his spouse later left for Mucchintal (Sriramnagar), where the Chinna Jeeyar Swamy's spiritual centre is located and where the "Samatha Murthy" Ramanujacharya Sahasrabdi (one thousand years celebrations) is going on.
