Chief Minister K Rosaiah officially launched the Prajapatham program at Katarivaripalem village (Challareddypalem gram panchayat of Ventapalem mandal) in Prakasam district at 11am on Monday.
The Prajapatham programme is a government initiative to reach out to the poorest sections of the state. This month-long program is being taken up to ensure that benefits of the developmental and welfare programs are indeed reaching genuine beneficiaries. The drive will go on till May 14.
Elected representatives, accompanied by mandal-level officers, will visit 4 gram panchayats and 5 municipal wards in their respective constituencies, to interact with the locals. The issues that will be addressed include drinking water, employment assurance, public distribution system, water conservation and irrigation works, housing & street lighting, Aarogyasri, awareness on of '108' and '04' services, health information, education and communication (IEC) campaigns. Residents may approach the officials with other diffculties that they may be facing.
Addressing the public today, the CM requested all citizens to come forward and bring troubling issues to the notice of the officials. Promising that the government will make its best efforts to solve them, he said that other issues like the
Right To Education (RTE) will also be discussed.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), at the behest of the TRS chief KCR, pitched in to disrupt the procedings of Prajapatham. Party workers began to create unrest among those taking part in the program. Demanding that the Telangana issue be sorted out first, the workers made attempts to wreak havoc. The police have arrested about 12 of the TRS workers.
