The Praja Chaithanya Party will contest 15 Lok Sabha seats, six in Telangana and nine in Seemandhra and will filed 47 candidates from Telangana for Assembly and 67 from Seemandhra regions.
According to PCP President D Suresh Babu, PCP's main objective is to empower the Backward Classes politically, economically and socially.
"We are taking the first steps towards BC empowerment, and in the assembly elections we will contest seats where we have a strong base," he said.
Though all political parties have been promising BC welfare, nothing had been done so far, he said. All political parties had exploited BCs, and had failed to come to a consensus on fielding BCs in at least 100 constituencies, he alleged.
Suresh Babu said that the PCP had a 6-point agenda for the ensuing elections which included giving 50 MLA & 6 MP tickets to BCs in Telangana, and 60 MLA and 9 MP tickets to BCs in Andhra Pradesh.
As many as 33 per cent of MLA and MP tickets are being given to the youth in both the States, he added. (INN)
