The Hyderabad High Court today transferred a petition filed by Tollywood actor Prabhas challenging the decision of local authorities to seize his land and guesthouse located in Raidurg Panmakta village, Serilingampally mandal, to a bench of the court.
The local authorities allegedly tried to seize the guesthouse, built on a plot of 2,083 sq ft, also claimed by the actor, without prior warning. Prabhas claimed to have attempted to resist the authorities.
He then approached the Hyderabad High Court and filed a petition urging it to direct the officials not to take any further action in the case.
Deposing before the apex court, the counsel for the actor Rubaina Khatoon told the court that the officials did not serve any notice to the actor before landing up to seize his guesthouse, and that the officials had failed to follow any of the basic rules before going ahead with their action, which she termed was a violation of his fundamental rights.
The officials resorted to the act following a judgment of the Supreme Court three months ago that the land in which the guesthouse was located belonged to the state government.
A single judge recommended that the matter be heard by a bench of the court.
