The AP power utilities are fully geared to restore power supply in the cyclone-affected areas of the Chittoor and Nellore districts. The cyclone has been named "Roval".
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu directed the official machinery to conduct pole-to-pole survey in all the affected areas for quick restoration of power supply.
"During such exigencies, we should stay with the public and ensure timely restoration of services and minimizing of the inconvenience. We should arrange alternate power supply wherever feasible, and take up repairs and maintenance works on damaged poles, lines and transformers round-the-clock," he said.
The Chief Minister was holding a teleconference on the damage caused by Roval to the power infrastructure and supply in several districts of Andhra Pradesh, particularly the Nellore and Chittoor districts.
Energy Secretary Ajay Jain said that over 90% of the restoration works had been completed, and assured the people that the remaining works would be completed at the earliest.
Ajay Jain also directed all the employees and engineers to fully engage themselves in quick restoration of the power supply. He requested them not to avail themselves of any leave/holidays during natural calamities.
