Hyderabad | 19th May 2016
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today directed officials to take all possible precautionary steps to prevent loss of lives in view of the looming "Roanu" cyclone.

In a teleconference held from his camp office with Chief Secretary S P Tucker, the Collectors of the coastal districts and other senior officials, Naidu instructed them all to plunge into action to ensure immediate restoration of the electric poles and lines that were uprooted due to gusty winds and heavy rains, and the power supply.

He also called for expedient action in other areas by the administrations of the affected districts for restoration of normal life in the affected areas.

"Also set up rehabilitation centres in the affected areas to provide food and water to the needy," the Chief Minister ordered. He said that rehabilitation centres should be planned as per the changing course of the cyclone in the State.

Naidu also instructed the Collectors to keep the official machinery on its toes, and monitor the rescue and relief measures at the ground level. He asked the officials to ensure that food and water packets were ready.

He also told the officials to keep track of the cyclone movement continuously and pass on real-time updates to help speed up the rehabilitation works, and directed the appointment of Special Officers to take stock of the situation and monitor the relief measures at the districts.

He also instructed the Fire Services department, NDRF and SDRF teams to coordinate rescue operations in the affected areas.
