Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy paid floral tributes to Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu on the occasion of his 111th Jayanthi celebrations at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister praised the services of Amarajeevi Sriramulu who had fought till death for the separation of the AP state from the Madras Presidency. Several ministers spoke at the function. Legislative Council Chairman Chakrapani also recollect the services of the martyr.
Minister for APIDC And Minor Irrigation T G Venkatesh, paying his tributes to Amarajeevi, said that Sriramulu was a selfless leader who fought for carving out a separate state for Telugus on a linguistic basis.
Taking a dig at the 'bifurcation' demand, he warned that a state for each district would come up soon.
The minister sought the restoration of the statues of the Telugu legends that were
recently desecrated. Referring to the request for a statue of a Telangana leader from the Adilabad district, Komaram Bheem, the minister stated that the idols of Komaram Bheem and other Telangana leaders could be installed at any other suitable place. He also said that he would plan the installation of a statue of TRS chief KCR in Kurnool, if he raised 'Jai Andhra' slogans.
