Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has appealed to Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal to stop his efforts to stall the formation of Telangana state.
Speaking to media persons in the Assembly premises here, Ponguleti said that the ongoing process of Telangana formation was the result of a continuous "struggle" for over 60 years and the sacrifices made by over 1100 people.
He said that Lagadapati should respect the statehood sentiments and ensure a peaceful bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
He added that when Hindi-speaking people could have many states, there is no harm in Telugu-speaking people having 2 states.
He stated that 2 states would only help in the growth and development of the Telugus.
Ponguleti also informed that he had sought the permission of AICC Affairs Incharge Janardhan Trivedi to move a resolution in the AICC's session to thank Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other Central leadership for accepting the demand for Telangana state.
The Congress MLC also accused TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu of having a dual stand on the statehood issue.
He said that the 2-eye logic presented by Naidu has failed to find takers and that people of both the regions have suffered due to Naidu's dual stand on the Telangana issue. (INN)
