The Kadapa Police has filed a petition before the First Additional Civil Judge Court seeking permission to conduct a lie-detector test on the former mayor of Kadapa, Ravindranath Reddy, in a forgery case.

Ravindranath Reddy, who surrendered before the court on February 26, was sent to police custody for one day on Thursday. After the expiry of custody, he was produced before the court and was later shifted to the district jail.
It may be recalled that the Kadapa police had registered a case of cheating and forgery against Ravindranath Reddy following a complaint that he indulged in forgery during the cooperative elections. He has been accused of forging the Kadapa District Cooperative Officer?s stamp and signature during the elections of Pedda Cheppali Society of Kamalapuram constituency.
Ravindranath Reddy, brother-in-law of former Chief Minister late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, approached the Court asking it to dismiss the cases registered against him. However, the court refused to intervene in the case which forced him to surrender before the court. (INN)
