Hyderabad | 9th February 2019
The Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, along with senior officers and DCPs, ACPs, SHOs and sector SIs had an interactive session with all the rowdy sheeters of the South Zone and West Zone today.
There was also interaction and sharing of expectations with all the PD Act detenus released from jail.
About 585 rowdy sheeters and PD Act detenus attended the "Parivartan Sammelan", a name suggested by one of the rowdy sheeters. Many of the (possibly ex-) ruffians said that earlier due to bad company or some other reasons they were on the wrong track, and that they regretted it. They promised that they would change.
The Commissioner of Police, Anjani Kumar, told them that Hyderabad becoming much safer in the last four years with crime continuously coming down meant that a large number of ex-criminals had taken to abiding by the law, and encouraged them to do the same.
He also informed the rowdy sheeters that many big companies of Europe and USA were coming and establishing huge units here, and that a safe city would result in the children of the rowdy sheeters getting opportunities to earn their livelihoods with dignity and self-respect. He told them that if they took two steps towards lawful living, the police department would take ten.
The Commissioner also cautioned them that all of them were under watch round the clock throughout the year by the police. A minor offence or even an attempt would result in punishment, he warned them. He advised them to think of their families and the social stigma they would face in their daily life if arrested.
