Sleuths of the Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills police stations on Tuesday nabbed 3 cricket bookies, and seized Rs. 1,04,000 in cash, colour TVs, 2 laptops, 22 mobile phones and a set-top box with 10 phones from their possession.

The arrests took place after the Jubilee Hills police was tipped off that a cricket bookie, Jammula Shivaji, from Srikrishna Residency, Srinagar colony, was indulging in cricket betting, and had rented a room at Gayathri Hills to use its premises as a gaming house.

The police raided the premises and nabbed him, and seized Rs. 44,000 in cash, 1 colour TV, 1 laptop, 13 mobile phones and 1 calculator from his possession.

Shivaji, a native of Vijaywada, is a habitual offender involved in cricket betting, the police said. He had been organizing cricket betting within his own community of punters since last year.

The Banjara Hills police nabbed a bookie named B Giridhar Reddy from Mount View apartment, Ganapathi Complex, and seized Rs. 30,000 in cash, 1 laptop, a set-top box with 10 mobile phones, 2 calculators and 5 mobile phones from his possession.

Going by the information extorted from the arrested bookies, the Banjara Hills police held another bookie named P Suri, the co-partner of Giridhar Reddy. Suri used to operate on his own from Giridhar Reddy's flat at Ganapathi complex.

The police seized Rs. 30,000 in cash, 4 mobile phones (Reliance) and 1 calculator from his possession.
