Kapu Reservations: Mudragada Padayatra Foiled Again
The AP police foiled yet another attempt by Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham to take out a "Chalo Amaravathi" padayatra seeking reservation for his community.
The Andhra Pradesh police today foiled yet another attempt by Kapu leader and former minister Mudragada Padmanabham to take out a "Chalo Amaravathi" padayatra demanding reservation for his community.
Mudragada, after the expiry of his house arrest period (he had been under house arrest since July 26), tried to take out a padayatra in the morning, when police prevented him saying that there was no police permission for his padayatra.
Mudragadda indulged in a verbal argument with the police when he was stopped. He asked the police why they were not allowing him to take out a padayatra when he had announced that he would conduct it peacefully and in a democratic way.
Police officers informed him that as per the Supreme Court orders prior permission needed to be taken from the government for any padayatra. Since he had not taken permission, the police could not allow him to go on one, they said.
