BJP Bid To Hoist India Flag At Golconda Foiled
The BJP leaders were prevented from entering the fort on the occasion of Hyderabad Liberation Day, following denial of permission by the Telangana government.
Several activists and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party were taken into custody by the Hyderabad City Police when they tried to hoist the national flag at the historic Golconda fort on the occasion of Hyderabad Liberation Day on Wednesday.
The BJP leaders were prevented from entering the Golconda fort to hoist the national flag following a denial of permission by the Telangana government.
Barricades were also erected along all routes leading towards the fort.
Earlier, Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy hoisted the national flag at the party office at Nampally.
Accompanied by Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreyya, MLAs N V S S Prabhakar, Dr K Lakshman, Chintala Ramchandra Reddy and Raja Singh, he then proceeded to Gun Park where the tri-colour was unfurled.
The BJP leaders then went to Bapu Ghat at Langar Houz to proceed towards the Golconda fort. However, they were taken into custody and shifted to the Goshamahal police stadium.
Speaking to media persons, Kishan Reddy strongly condemned the arrest of BJP leaders and workers for trying to hoist the national flag.
Instead of celebrating the Hyderabad Liberation Day officially, the TRS government was taking action against those who celebrated it on their own, he alleged.
He said that the TRS government was acting at the behest of the MIM and for the same reason did not celebration the Liberation Day itself.
He counselled that the Telangana government should emulate the Karnataka and Maharashtra governments, which had organised official functions on Tuesday to mark the occasion.
Reddy announced that the BJP would continue its struggle till the State government started celebrating the Liberation Day officially. (INN)
