The Andhra Pradesh High Court adjourned to Saturday the hearing on a petition on Polavaram.
The petition was filed by a joint venture of the Soma - China Gezhouba Group against the SEW-Patel-AMR joint venture, challenging that the authorities have violated procedures in awarding the contract of the Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project.
While adjourning the petition, the Court asked the Advocate General to submit a report to clarify whether the government had informed other bidders about the contract being awarded to the SEW-Patel-AMR joint venture.
Further, the Court directed the Advocate General to explain the parameters that the government followed in awarding the contracts.
In the petition, the CGGC-Soma joint venture took objection over the awarding of the contract, and also said that the SEW-Patel-AMR joint venture lacks expertise and the capacity to execute the irrigation project. It appealed to the court to cancel the tenders. (INN)
