The Telugu Desam MLA from Banswada, Pocharam Srinivas, who had quit the party to join the Telangana forces, on Thursday stated that he had voted according to his conscience during the Legislative Council elections.
Talking to media persons at the Assembly media point, the MLA stated that he had voted for those who are making sincere efforts for the formation of a Telangana state. TRS leaders Etala Rajender and K T Rama Rao had personally escorted the MLA to the Assembly.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had issued a whip for the 2nd time on Thursday, directing its MLAs to compulsorily cast their votes for the TDP candidates in the Council elections.
Pocharam Srinivas called upon the TDP leaders from Telangana to come out of the party and to join hands with those who are working towards the formation of the Telangana state.
He opined that the TDP President, N Chandrababu Naidu, would not fulfill the aspirations of the Telangana people.
Earlier on Thursday, 2 TDP MLAs - Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy and Bala Nagi Reddy - had refused to follow the whip issued by the TDP, and participated in the meeting of the Congress MLAs supporting Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, held at the latter’s residence.
