The proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Andhra Pradesh has been postponed.
The Prime Minister was scheduled to visit AP in the first week of January, and to address a public meeting in Guntur district. According to a new tentative program, the Prime Minister is now likely to visit the state in the last week of January or in February.
Estranged ally the TDP had been all fire and fury at the PM's proposed visit, with Chandrababu Naidu asking if Modi was visiting to see whether the people of the state were dead or alive. The BJP has declined to give Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh despite the previous PM promising it on the floor of Parliament and the party's own senior leaders supporting it at that time.
