One Killed, Four Hurt In Cylinder Blast In Kapra
A pedestrian was killed and four members of a family were grievously injured when an LPG cylinder exploded in a house near Kapra circle on Friday morning.
A pedestrian was killed and four members of a family were grievously injured when an LPG cylinder exploded after gas leakage in a house near Kapra circle on Friday morning.
The explosion occurred on the second floor of the building, and its impact led to the building collapsing and some of the debris falling on a local man identified as Ravi, who suffered a grievous head injury and died on the spot.
The Kushaiguda police and fire service officials rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. The injured were shifted to a private hospital in Secunderabad.
On receipt of the information, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and his deputy Baba Fasiuddin visited the house of the victims and announced Rs 2 lakhs as an ex gratia payment to the kin of Ravi from the GHMC funds. Besides, the kin would be paid an additional ex gratia amount of Rs 1 lakh from the Apathbandhu scheme, the Mayor said.
The Mayor also enquired about the incident from the officials on the spot and instructed the GHMC enforcement wing, and the police and the fire departments to initiate rehabilitation efforts immediately.
The cylinder blast appeared to have been caused by negligence in handling the gas cylinder, he said.
