Jana Sena Party president and Tollywood actor Pawan Kalyan consoled the family members of one of his admirers named Vinod Kumar who was stabbed, allegedly by the followers of another popular actor, on Tuesday in the Kolar region of Karnataka.
The 24-year-old was a diehard fan of the actor, and had arranged and sponsored several programs for the Jana Sena Party in the Chittoor district.
As per reports, Vinod had participated in an event in Karnataka recently where he acclaimed Pawan Kalyan vocally. Some of the followers of the opposite side objected to this and engaged in a heated argument with him, which reportedly led to the fatal stabbing.
The actor told Kumar's parents that the incident was unforgivable, and that he was deeply sorry for their loss. He assured the family of all possible assistance during the difficult time for them.
Speaking with the media later, Kalyan expressed his grief, and recalled Vinod as a sincere admirer. He demanded that the police bring the assailants to justice.
He also said that people killing one another over celebrities was fanaticism.
"Followers should know that actors including me in the film industry maintain warm and friendly relations with each other. Taking sides and hurting each another over us goes against our values," he said.
He urged his fans to be more wise and avoid altercations over petty issues.
