The Nampally Consumer Court on Tuesday admitted a petition by the husband of a cancer patient against a corporate hospital for removing the patient's unaffected body parts.
The complaint, by one Umesh Chandra Shrivastav on behalf of his wife Lakshmikanta Srivastav, stated that she had got admitted to Wockhardt Kamineni Hospital, King Koti, for a surgery.
Shrivastav stated that he was told by the hospital that cancer had affected wife's abdomen. He had agreed to get her operated in order to save her life.
Accordingly, the doctors at the hospital removed the patient's urethra and fallopian tubes, Shrivastav stated.
The couple went to another hospital for checkup after noticing no improvement in Mrs. Shrivastav's health even after 2 months.
The fresh tests revealed that the cancer had spread to the patient's lungs and liver.
