Palamur Lift Irrigation Project A Boon: Harish Rao
Launching the long-awaited lift irrigation project in the Mahabubnagar district, the Telangana minister said the TRS was rewriting the history of Palamur.
Launching the long-awaited lift irrigation project at Nettempadu in the Mahabubnagar district, Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said that the TRS government was rewriting the history of Palamur. He vowed, on behalf of the Telangana government, to mitigate the problems pertaining to irrigation in the region by supplying water to 8.5 lakh acres of lands by the next Kharif season.
"It is time to turn the parched lands of Palamur wet again and bring the migrants back," he said.
He also said that the government would be taking steps to supply water for three crops a year in the district.
The government was spending funds worth thousands of crores of rupees to complete the irrigation projects, Rao said, and assured that it would soon complete its mission of supplying water for one crore acres in Telangana.
"Villagers soon won't have to travel long distances to fetch drinking water anymore either as the government will bring it directly to their homes by implementing Mission Bhagiratha," he said.
Rao lashed out at the Opposition for "hatching conspiracies" against the government and criticizing it irrationally. He said that the Opposition parties had made empty promises when they were in power, but had enabled the irrigation of only 3,000 acres of land in the region compared to the 10 lakh acres that would be irrigated due to the TRS government's projects in the district.
Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, Dr C Lakshma Reddy, MP Jithender Reddy and MLA Srinivas Goud and other officials were present.
