MIM floor leader in the Telangana Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi today said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had developed Telangana in all sectors in the past six years.
Speaking in the Assembly, Owaisi criticised the Congress and the BJP for their "blind" comments on the government. He specifically claimed that the TRS government had launched several schemes for the minorities' development, commenting that the previous Congress government had always been stingy with funds for minority welfare, and that the TRS was the polar opposite.
"We used to beg for just Rs 36 crore for our welfare in the Congress rule, but the TRS government has allotted Rs. 1,500 crore now," he said. "The people are obviously happy with the welfare schemes as can be seen by how they are electing the TRS again and again into power."
Speaking about specific schemes launched by the KCR government, he said that a large number of minority community students were now studying in special schools for them in the state, the government was offering Rs 20 lakh to students for higher education abroad, and that Shaadi Mubarak helped families wed their girls.
He flayed the opposition parties for trying to "constantly criticise" the Chief Minister despite "efficient rule for all-round development".
Owaisi also urged the government to check irregularities in the Wakf Board in recruitment of jobs and to investigate Wakf lands illegally occupied.
