Opposition To New Acquisition Bill Irrational: TRS
Minister T Harish Rao stated that the State government was offering the suitable compensations to the farmers for giving up their lands for development.
Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao stated that the State government offered the best possible compensations to the farmers for giving up their lands for irrigation projects in the State.
Rao introduced the new Telangana Land Acquisition Bill, and started a debate on the same in which he said that the government was enacting a new law as per the Constitution, but the Congress and TDP were being unreasonable in their opposition.
Harish Rao said that it was irrational to oppose the new land acquisition bill. Stating that compensation would still be paid under the 2013 Land Acquisition Act, he rejected the accusations of the Opposition that the government was forcibly acquiring farm lands.
Rao also said that the landowners and farmers were giving up their land willfully and were getting the most suitable compensation under the 2013 Act.
The land being acquired would be used for government projects and development programs, and not for private businesses, he reiterated. The government would keep the Opposition's suggestions in view and review the Act, he promised.
