Bandh Against Tariff Hike Not Needed: Danam

The state government has appealed to the opposition parties to withdraw tomorrow's state-wide bandh in protest against the hike in power charges.

Minister D Nagender urged opposition parties to call off the bandh, claiming that the government is taking all possible steps to solve the power crisis, to see to it that the burden is not passed on to the consumers. The crisis is due to the heavy increase in demand, he said.

"How is it reasonable for TDP, which has demolished the power sector, to support the bandh?" he derided. (INN)
